OMLEA NEWS

 

The OMLEA board has been hard at work revising the constitution. The new Constitution is up for vote by the organization at the February OMLEA conference. Click to review the constitution before the vote. Approved 2/25/05

Candidate for OMLEA President-Elect:

DEDRA STAFFORD

Dedra Stafford currently serves on the OMLEA Conference Committee and is the OKC Metro Area Regional Representative for OMLEA. Dedra is an educator for Mustang North Middle School. She has been teaching at the middle level for the last seven years.  Recently, she has been nominated for the National History Teacher of the Year and Disney Teacher of the Year. Dedra is truly committed to promoting middle level education in the state of Oklahoma. She demonstrates this as she dedicates many hours to presenting at national, state, and local conferences across the United States including the Nuts and Bolts Symposium in both Destin, Florida and Boulder, Colorado, Northern Exposure Conference in Michigan, and the NMSA conference in 2003.  She has also written articles for “Middle Matters” and the OMLEA website. Dedra Stafford is an energetic and committed element of the middle level education in Oklahoma and would be proud to serve the state as president-elect for 2005-2006.

Candidate for OMLEA Secretary

TONY HOOPER

            Tony is assistant principal at Central Junior High School in Lawton. He has served as an educator in Oklahoma for the past 28 years.  After 14 years in the classroom he moved into administration, where he has been for the past 14 years.  His administrative experience includes 9 years as an elementary principal and 5 years as a junior high assistant principal.  He is a member of Lawton’s Middle School Steering Committee, which is leading Lawton through the transition from junior highs to middle schools.  Tony has served as OMLEA’s secretary since his appointment by the OMLEA Board of Directors in June, 2004.
